Mid-term Class Enrolments at the ANU

We've had a few enquiries from people wanting to join our Saturday dance classes mid-term, and are happy to say that yes, you can do this, but you need to phone Katie Duncan at the ANU Sports Union on (02) 6125 2273 to make the arrangements (during weekdays only) as the reception staff on weekends can't process pro-rata enrolments. She will do the calculations and let you know what is due and how to pay. We've negotiated the lowest possible class payments for any of their courses, so you shouldn't have to pay too much.

The classes are held in the Multipurpose Room, Building 19, North Road, ACTON ACT 0200 on Saturdays from 4pm - 6.30pm, with more challenging dances from 6pm - 6.30pm for more advanced dancers. See a map at http://campusmap.anu.edu.au/largemap.asp

Wednesday Night Extension Classes

We have rearranged our home studio to make it an even more attractive dance practice venue and will be making it available for an extra class on the 3 Wednesday evenings before each ball. Contact us on (02) 62811098 for more information.

Upcoming Balls & Dance Displays

We are preparing for the Pride & Prejudice Jane Austen Ball in October and the Time Travelers Ball in November (see http://edhda.eventbrite.com/ ) and dance class participants are also preparing costumes and learning dances for a Renaissance display in March 2011, and the Jane Austen Festival & Victorian Dance Week in April 2011.

If you would like to be part of the dance display group we invite you to join the Saturday dance classes to become familiar with our repertoire, and join us over the summer making costumes. We have the patterns and the fabric, so you do not need to pay any extra for making them.

Dancing in 2011

We will be holding special public dances in 2011, but not as regularly as before. So make sure to subscribe to our email newsletter to know the dates. We are having a break from public dances and classes over the summer, but will be still holding classes for those joining us for displays in March and April. John and Aylwen will be traveling overseas mid-year, so will be spending the summer months getting that, and the Jane Austen Festival, organised. Class participants will need to bring their own bottle of water (water bottles and t-shirts with class logos are available from http://www.cafepress.com.au/jafa) and smooth soled shoes - please do not wear rubber soled shoes or stiletto heels.
