In describing dances the challenge is invariably how to be as clear as possible at the same time as offering instructions which are easy-to-use in a social setting. The latter invariably means at-a-glance instructions, with key prompts for when dancing is underway, related to the structure of the music. To this end, while trying to keep abbreviations and technical terms to a minimum, some have been used.
