Antonia Lai Brisbane, Queensland I am married and living in Brisbane with my husband and daughter. Embroidery and costuming are my hobbies. I always have had the desire to put embroidery into my costumes. About 3 years ago, after reading a set of Janet Arnold Patterns of Fashion books, lead me to look for a group to join to make costumes. I joined the Australian Costumers Guild and with the encouragement from my costume friends, I started to make costumes and attend events. It was my first time attending the Jane Austen Festival Australia 2012 and I enjoyed making all the garments for this event. To prepare for 2013, I need to make the following items to add to my Regency wardrobe: chemisette robe evening gown cloak headwear pantalettes reticute slippers For my husband, I need to create a Regency wardrobe for him. I have already made tailcoat, so I need to make shirt, waistcoat, pants, cravat. For this challenge, I have not come up with a specific project to do. I anticipate to be more specific in my plan when I enter the challenge in July 2012. UPDATED 31 JULY 2012 In July, I made my neck ruff and did a first mock up of the Spencer jacket. For the jacket, I need to redraft the collar and outer sleeve. I also purchased fake fur to make a fur muff later on. UPDATED 29 JUNE 2012 My challenge in July is to make a spencer jacket based on this 1817 fashion plate (Fashioning Fashion, European Dress in Detail 1700-1915). On completion of this, I will make the bonnet, the ruff, the walking dress, and the muff. |
